Maya's Camp Diary

1Yesterday, my cabin hiked to Big Rock. We climbed the steep trail and stopped to rest at a stream. Ana carried the water bottles, and Priya shared her apple slices with everyone. At the top, I painted a picture of the lake below. The wind pushed my paper, so Ana pressed it flat. Then we walked back to camp and laughed the whole way.

2Today, I stay at the camp dock. Our counselor, Mr. Reyes, teaches us how to paddle a canoe. I hold the paddle tight, and Priya pushes the canoe away from the dock. The water looks calm, and a duck floats beside us. After lunch, we practice our strokes in the shallow water. The sun feels warm on my back.

3Tomorrow, we will sing songs at the campfire. Ana will play her drum, and I will bring a flashlight. The counselors will roast marshmallows for everyone. Mr. Reyes will tell a funny story about a lost frog. I will write about it in my diary before bed.
