OwlSheets

Privacy Policy

Effective October 21, 2026

OwlSheets collects as little personal information as it can. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the site, and how to have your data deleted.

Without an account

You can browse and use free worksheets without signing in. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers. Our servers keep standard request logs (such as IP address, browser and the page requested) for security and troubleshooting.

When a student works on a worksheet online, their answers stay in that browser (local storage) so the work survives a reload; they are not sent to us. Your cart is kept the same way until you check out. The one exception is a class assignment, described below.

Class assignments

A teacher with an account can assign a worksheet to a class with a join code. Students who join with the code do not create an account. When they press Submit we store the name they typed, their answers and their score, and show them only to the teacher who made the assignment. We suggest students use a first name or the name their teacher asks for.

The teacher can close the assignment or delete it at any time; deleting it permanently removes every student’s name and answers. Deleting the teacher’s account deletes their assignments too.

With an account

Accounts are for adults. When you create one we store:

  • your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google;
  • sign-in sessions (a secure cookie, plus the device’s IP address and browser for security);
  • your plan and the worksheets you bought;
  • with Premium, which Premium resources you open and when, and a scrambled (hashed) form of the device’s IP address and browser, used only for fair use and to stop shared or automated accounts.

We use this only to sign you in, give you access to what you paid for, answer your messages and send important account or billing emails. We do not sell it.

Student accounts

A teacher or parent can create student accounts, or a student can make their own login with a class code their teacher shared. A teacher can set a class to approve each student who joins this way, or close it to new students. Student accounts are owned by the teacher or parent, who acts for the child and, for children under 13, gives the consent the law asks for (including COPPA in the United States). Parents who create an account for their own child give that consent themselves.

For a student account we store:

  • the student’s first name, last name (optional) and username;
  • a grade (for children a parent adds);
  • a password, kept only as a one-way scrypt hash that no one can read back, and a sign-in session (a secure cookie);
  • the classes they belong to, their answers and their scores on assignments.

Only the owning teacher or parent can see a student’s details and work. We show no advertising to students, we do not sell their information, and we use it only to run the class. A parent can open the student site as their child on their own device, which signs the child in there with a one-time link that works once, within a minute. The teacher or parent can remove a student at any time; deleting a student, or deleting a class, permanently removes the student account and everything stored with it, including their submissions. Deleting a class removes the students who belong only to that class.

Payments

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record. They collect your payment and billing details under their own privacy policy and tell us only what we need: your email, what you bought, and the status of your plan. We never see your card number.

Services that help run OwlSheets

  • Lemon Squeezy (payments and billing)
  • Google (if you choose “Continue with Google”)
  • Resend (sending sign-in emails)
  • Cloudflare (content delivery and protection) and our hosting provider (servers and database)

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. No advertising or tracking cookies.

Children

OwlSheets is made for children’s learning. Teacher and parent accounts are for adults. We collect information about a child only through a student account that their teacher or parent creates, or that the student makes with a class code their teacher shared (teachers can require approval first), as described in the Student accounts section above. Students can also use worksheets an adult gives them without any account. If you believe a child has given us personal information without that permission, contact us and we will delete it.

How long we keep data

We keep account data while your account exists, class assignment results until the teacher deletes them, and student accounts and their work until the teacher or parent removes the student or the class. Purchase records may be kept longer where tax or accounting law requires. Server logs are kept for a short time.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account at [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and email account holders about important changes.
