Teodor's Okapi Report: Checking Spelling with a Dictionary

Use guide words and dictionary entries to fix misspelled words.

Read the draft

Teodor wrote this first draft of a report. Some words are misspelled. Read it carefully.

The Okapi, by Teodor

1The okapi is a shy animal that lives in a thick forist in central Africa. Its name is said like oh-KAH-pee. It is hard to spot because it hides among the trees and moves very quietly. Okapis usually live alone, not in herds.

2An okapi looks a bit like a horse, but its closest relative is the jiraffe. Its body is covered in short, soft brown fer. White strypes on its legs help it hide in the dark forist. Male okapis have two short horns on their heads.

3The okapi eats leevs, buds and fruit. It wraps its long, dark tung around a branch and pulls off the leevs. It is so long that the okapi can even clean its own ears with it!

4Okapis are not easy to find in the wild. Still, I think they are one of the most amazing animals in the world. I hope I get to see one someday.

Use the dictionary pages

Guide words at the top of a dictionary page show the first and last entry on that page. Every word on the page comes between them in ABC order.
