Judo Club News

1Thandi writes the news page for her judo club. Before she shares it, she checks every word that looks wrong in a dictionary. If she cannot find a word, she thinks about other letters that can spell the same sound. For example, the sound at the start of knee is spelled kn, and the sound at the start of wrist is spelled wr.

2Here is her first draft: "This week, Coach Petrov showed us how to fall safely. First we neel on the mat and bow to our partners. Then we practice rolling. Coach says to tuck your chin and keep your musles relaxed. Last, we tie our belts in a tight not. My left rist was sore after class, so I rested it. Judo teaches us balence and respect."

3Thandi looked up neel under the letter n, but it was not there. Then she remembered the sound in knee and tried kn. There it was! She checked the other words the same way and fixed each one before she printed the news.
