Priya's Diary: A Week with the New Baby
Connect words like gentle, soothing and proud to real life.
Read the diary
Read Priya's diary about her first week with her baby sister.
Priya's Diary
1Monday: Today Mom and Dad brought my baby sister, Asha, home from the hospital. She is so tiny that her whole hand wraps around just one of my fingers. Dad says I must be gentle, so I touch her cheek very softly.
2Tuesday: Asha cried for a long time this afternoon. Then Grandpa held her and hummed a slow, quiet song. Soon she stopped crying and fell asleep. Grandpa's humming is soothing.
3Wednesday: Our neighbor, Mrs. Ortiz, brought a pot of rice and beans so Mom would not have to cook. Then she folded a whole basket of baby clothes for us. She is so helpful!
4Thursday: Asha wakes up every few hours at night, so everyone in our home is tired. This morning Dad yawned and poured orange juice on his cereal by mistake! We all laughed, even Dad.
5Friday: I read a picture book to Asha in a whisper. She looked up at me with big, dark eyes. I feel proud to be a big sister.
