Helping at the Vet Clinic

On Saturday, Lena helped at her aunt's vet clinic. Her aunt, Dr. Okafor, takes care of sick and hurt pets. Lena's job was to greet each family at the front desk.

First, Mr. Patel came in with his cat, Pepper. The cat's ear was red and itchy. Dr. Okafor looked inside it with a tiny light and gave Mr. Patel some ear drops.

Next, the Rivera twins carried in a box with two rabbits. The rabbits' teeth had grown too long, so the doctor trimmed them. The twins' faces looked worried until both rabbits began to munch on hay.

Then a puppy named Biscuit hopped onto the scale. The puppy's tail wagged the whole time. Lena wrote his weight on a chart and gave him a pat on the head.

At noon, Lena helped wash the dogs' water bowls in the back room. "You did a great job today," said her aunt. Lena smiled. She had decided that her aunt's clinic was her favorite place in town.
