Fixing Possessives in Jada's Block Party Journal

Find and fix apostrophe mistakes, then build your own possessive nouns.

Jada's journal

Jada wrote about the block party on her street. She made some mistakes with possessive nouns. Read her journal.

The Oak Street Block Party

1Last Saturday, Oak Street had a block party. Mr. Kim's grill sat at one end of the street, and the smell of corn filled the air. Ava and Zoe are twins who live next door. My little brother ran straight to the twins chalk drawings on the sidewalk.

2After lunch, Ms. Ruiz played her guitar on the front steps. She played fast, happy songs that made people want to dance. All of the neighbor's sang along. Even Mrs. Patel's dog howled with the music!

3The best part was the sack race. Each racer stood inside a big cloth bag and hopped to the finish line. The childrens' race came first, and then the grown-ups lined up. My dads sack ripped in the middle, and everyone laughed, even Dad.

4When the streetlights came on, we helped carry the tables back inside. Everyone worked together, so the street was clean in no time. That night, I fell asleep thinking about the music, the corn, and the funny sack race.
