Let's Have a Toy Swap: Linking Opinions and Reasons

Use because, since, therefore and for example to connect ideas.

Read the speech

Hana gave this speech to her class. Look for the words that link her opinion to her reasons.

Let's Have a Toy Swap

1Good morning, Room 9! My name is Hana, and I have an idea for our class. I think we should hold a toy swap at the end of the month. At a toy swap, everyone brings a toy they do not play with anymore and trades it for a toy that is new to them.

2A toy swap is a smart idea because it costs nothing. Nobody needs to spend any money to get something new. You just bring one toy and take home another.

3A swap is good for the earth, too. Some toys end up in the trash when kids get tired of them. Since another kid might love your old toy, swapping gives it a second life.

4A swap can even help us make friends. For example, you might trade with a classmate you do not know well and find out that you both love board games.

5Every kid in our class has toys they have outgrown. Therefore, a toy swap would be easy to plan. Please vote yes, and let's swap!
