About this worksheet
What students practice
- Students find the linking words that connect reasons to an opinion in a model article.
- Students tell when since gives a reason and match linking words that do the same job.
- Students use since and therefore to connect their own opinions and reasons.
How to use
Read the article together and circle each linking word as a class. Students then answer the questions on their own; the last part works well as a warm-up before opinion writing.
Curriculum
Common Core standard covered

Give Juggling a Try
1Many people think juggling is only for circus stars. I disagree. I think every kid should learn to juggle. It is a fun hobby, and it is easier to start than you might think.
2Juggling is a great hobby because you can do it almost anywhere. For example, you can juggle in your bedroom, in the backyard, or at the park. You do not need a big field or a whole team.
3Beginners should start with scarves. Since scarves float down slowly, you have more time to catch them. After you can juggle scarves, you can move on to beanbags.
4Juggling also teaches you to keep trying. Everyone drops things when they first learn. Therefore, dropping a scarf is nothing to feel bad about. Just pick it up and toss it once more.
5Juggling is fun to share, too. Once you learn a trick, you can teach it to a friend or put on a show for your family.
6Grab three scarves and give juggling a try. Since it is easy to start and fun to share, it might become your new favorite hobby!
