Bath Time for a Muddy Dog

Many dogs love to roll in mud, and some dogs even roll in smelly things. When your dog gets dirty, it is time for a bath. You will need a helper, a plastic cup, dog shampoo and an old towel.

First, fill the tub with warm water. The water should not be hot. Lead your dog into the tub slowly because many dogs feel nervous at bath time. Your helper can hold the dog gently.

Next, pour water over the dog's back with the cup. Then rub the shampoo into the wet fur. The shampoo will make lots of bubbles, but you must keep them away from the dog's eyes. Pay close attention to the paws. They are often the muddiest part!

After you scrub every part, rinse the fur well. Leftover soap can make a dog's skin itchy. Keep rinsing until the water runs clear.

Finally, wrap your dog in the towel. Your dog may shake hard, so you should stand back! Give your dog a treat when the bath is over. Soon you will have a clean, happy pet.
