Game Day at the Oak Street Senior Center

Every Friday, our third-grade class walks to the Oak Street Senior Center. We spend the afternoon playing games and sharing stories with the older adults who visit there.

Last week, Mr. Haddad taught us a new card game. He was smiling the whole time, and his laugh filled the room. Mrs. Chen showed us how to fold paper cranes. Mine looked a little lumpy, but she said it was the prettiest crane she had seen that day.

Then it was time for music. Ms. Rosa played the piano. We clapped and hummed along. A few of us started dancing, and Mr. Haddad tapped his foot to the beat.

Before we left, the friends at the center carried in a tray of warm oatmeal cookies. We hurried to wash our hands. Those cookies were the tastiest treat of the week!

Our visits to the center bring us so much happiness. We are already planning the games for next Friday.
