Noisy Morning on the Farm

Paul woke up at dawn on his grandpa's farm. The sun was just peeking over the hills. A loud noise came from the yard, so the boy pulled on his boots and ran outside.

A brown cow stood by the gate. Three chicks hopped in the straw and peeped for food. Paul gave each chick a scoop of corn. Soon the whole yard was full of happy sounds.

Then he saw something shiny in the soil. He dug it out with his fingers and rubbed off the dirt. It was a coin! "Look, Grandpa!" he shouted. Grandpa smiled and said, "Good eyes, Paul. We can take it to town and ask what it is worth."

Paul grinned all the way back to the house. What a happy start to the day!
