Shh! Baby June Is Sleeping
Find and use describing words from a poem.

Read the poem
A stanza is a group of lines in a poem. Each stanza has a number.
Shh! Baby June Is Sleeping
1Our baby June is napping,
all cozy, warm, and small.
"Please play quietly," Papa whispers,
as I tiptoe down the hall.
2The hallway floor is creaky.
It squeaks with every step.
So I walk slowly, slowly,
like a cat who's half asleep.
3My puppy's toy is squeaky,
so I hide it in a drawer.
I shut it very gently,
then I sit down on the floor.
4I build a tower softly,
one block, two blocks, three.
I turn the pages of my book
as carefully as can be.
5Outside, a big truck rumbles
with a loud and grumbly roar.
I hold my breath and listen,
but June just sleeps some more.
6Then June wakes up and giggles,
a happy, bubbly sound.
Now I can laugh so loudly
and spin around and round!
