Kite Day at the Park

Kai could not wait for kite day at the park. He began to unfold his bright red kite and held the string tight. But the wind was weak, and the kite would not fly. Kai felt unhappy.

Then Nia came over with a roll of string. "I will help you," she said kindly. She showed Kai how to retie the knot so it would not slip. "Be careful," she said. "A tight knot is the secret."

Kai ran across the grass. This time the wind grew stronger, and the kite rose quickly into the sky. It looked like a tiny red bird. Kai's frown turned into a big smile.

"I am glad you were so helpful," he told Nia. "Thank you for your kindness." They watched the kite dance until the sun began to set.
