Why We Need Plumbers
When you turn on a faucet, clean water comes out. When you flush a toilet, the dirty water goes away. Plumbers are the workers who make this happen. They do some of the most important jobs in a town.
First, plumbers help keep people healthy. They put in the pipes that bring clean water to sinks and showers. They also fix the pipes that carry dirty water away from homes. Without these pipes, germs could spread.
Plumbers also help save water. A dripping faucet can waste many buckets of water in a week. Plumbers find leaks and fix them fast. They can put in toilets and shower heads that use less water.
Plumbers help families in a hurry, too. If a pipe bursts at night, water can flood a floor. Many plumbers will come at any hour to stop the water. Fun fact: the word plumber comes from an old word for lead, a metal once used to make pipes.
Clean water, saved water and fast help are all ways that plumbers help us. The next time you wash your hands, think about the plumbers who made it possible!
