Lights Over Frost Hill
A snowy hill far in the north. It is a cold, dark night. Papa, Ana, and her little brother, Lev, walk up the hill with a blanket.
LEV: (holding Papa's hand tight) It is so dark up here. What was that sound?
PAPA: Just the wind in the pine trees. Soon you will see the northern lights. They glow green across the sky.
ANA: (looking up and groaning) Oh no! Gray clouds are covering the whole sky. Now we will not see a thing.
PAPA: The lights only show when the sky is clear. We may have to wait.
ANA: (stomping her boots) We came all this way for nothing! Let's just go home.
LEV: (letting go of Papa's hand) Wait, Ana! We can make snow angels while the clouds move.
ANA: (sighing) Fine. Just one. (She lies down and waves her arms in the snow.)
Slowly, the wind pushes the clouds away.
LEV: (pointing and cheering) Look! A green ribbon is dancing over the hill!
ANA: (sitting up and whispering) It's beautiful. I almost went home. Thank you for helping me wait, Lev.
