Grandfather Seo's Sweet Potato Cart

Every winter night, Grandfather Seo pushed his cart to the corner of a busy city street. Inside a small iron stove, sweet potatoes roasted until their skins cracked. His grandson Jun wrapped each one in paper and handed it to a customer.

Workers came by on their way home from the factory. Their hands were cold, and the warm potatoes cost only a few coins. "Thank you, Grandfather," they said.

One night, a rich man named Mr. Baek stopped at the cart. "Bring your cart to my big house every night," he said. "Cook only for me, and I will pay you a whole bag of coins." Jun's eyes grew wide. Grandfather Seo shook his head. "The workers count on me," he said. "I cook for everyone." Mr. Baek frowned and walked away.

Soon a snowstorm came. The heater in Mr. Baek's big house stopped working. He walked to the corner and found the workers gathered by Grandfather Seo's warm stove. They made room for him. Grandfather Seo handed him a hot potato, just like everyone else. Mr. Baek smiled. "A warm fire is best when it is shared," he said.
