Amara's Report
1Did you know that some whales have a tooth that is longer than you are tall? These whales are called narwhals. Narwhals live in the icy waters of the Arctic. The Arctic is the cold part of Earth around the North Pole. In this report, you will learn about narwhal bodies and how narwhals live.
2Most male narwhals have a tusk. A tusk is a very long tooth that grows out of an animal's mouth. A narwhal's tusk has lines that twist around it. Narwhals also have a blowhole. A blowhole is a hole on top of a whale's head that helps it breathe air.
3Narwhals often swim in groups called pods. A pod is a group of whales that travel together. Narwhals dive deep under the water to find food. They eat fish, shrimp, and squid.
