Version A, written by Meera Joshi

The Echo in the Canyon

High in the mountains lived a girl named Sunita. Every morning she shouted across the canyon, and her echo shouted back. One morning, nothing came back. Sunita climbed to the top of the cliff and found the echo shivering in a dark cave. Thunder had frightened it the night before.

"Come out," Sunita said softly. "I will sing you a song." She sat by the cave and sang a gentle tune about the sunrise. Slowly, the echo came out and sang the tune back to her. From then on, Sunita sang to the canyon each morning, and her echo sang along.
