Mint Plants for Sale
At a farm, Imani is growing mint plants to sell in pots. She wants the plants to grow new leaves before sale day. She sets up two tests that last 21 days. Each group has four young mint plants of the same kind. They start about the same size. The pots and soil are alike.
The sunlight test has groups called Light and Dark. Light gets sunlight. Dark stays in an airy space without sunlight. Both groups get the same measured amount of water each day. Imani checks that their spaces stay at the same temperature.
The water test has groups called Watered and Unwatered. Both sit together in a sunny spot. Watered gets a measured amount of water each day. Unwatered gets no added water during the test.
Imani marks the leaves already on each plant. After 21 days, she counts the new leaves. The graph shows the total new leaves for each group of four plants. It does not show plant heights.
