Mateo's Mosaic Journal

1Monday
Today Mr. Tran told our class about a big art project. We will make a mosaic for the front hall. A mosaic is a picture made of many small pieces. Our pieces will be bottle caps! We will glue them onto a board to make a green sea turtle.

2Wednesday
We sorted the caps by color in the art room. We had lots of blue caps for the water, but only nine green caps. A turtle needs many more than that!

3Thursday
I had an idea. I made a sign that said, "Please bring green caps!" Mr. Tran said, "Great thinking, Mateo!" Nadia and I hung the sign by the lunchroom door with an empty box under it.

4Friday
The box under the sign was full of green caps! We glued them in place all afternoon. Now our turtle swims across the front hall, and everyone stops to look.
