A Big Bird with a Long Neck

Swans are big birds that live on lakes and rivers. Many swans are white, and some are black. A swan has a long neck.

Swans eat mostly plants that grow under the water. A swan dips its long neck down to reach them.

A swan has webbed feet. Its feet work like paddles when it swims.

Baby swans are called cygnets (SIG-nets). Cygnets are often gray and fluffy. Sometimes they ride on a parent's back to rest and stay warm.
