Stuck Up High

Compare two stories about climbing too high.

Read two stories

Read both stories. Think about how Momo's and Theo's adventures are alike and how they are different.

Momo and the Oak Tree

Momo was a small orange kitten who lived with a girl named Lucia. One sunny afternoon, Momo chased a butterfly up the big oak tree in the yard. Up, up, up she went! Then Momo looked down. The ground was far away, and her legs shook. "Mew! Mew!" she cried. Lucia heard her and ran to get her dad. Lucia's dad climbed a ladder and lifted Momo down. Lucia held Momo close, and Momo purred.

Theo and the Top Bunk

Theo got a new bunk bed. He climbed the ladder to the top bunk and grinned. "I can see the whole room!" he said. That night, Theo woke up thirsty. The room was dark, and the floor looked far away. Theo did not want to climb down. "Grandpa!" he called. Grandpa came with a flashlight. He held the ladder while Theo climbed down, one step at a time. Then they each had a glass of water.
