Lost and Found Adventures

Compare two stories about a lost treasure.

Read two stories

Read both stories. Think about how they are alike and how they are different.

Leila and the Lost Hat

Leila lost her yellow hat in the woods. She walked past tall trees and a little creek. The path was dark, and she felt scared. Then a squirrel chattered and pointed with its tail. The hat was hanging on a branch! Leila jumped and grabbed it. "Thank you, squirrel!" she said. She put on her hat and went home with a big smile.

Sam and the Lost Shovel

Sam lost his green shovel at the beach. He looked near the waves and along the warm sand. The sun was hot, and he felt tired. Then a seagull hopped over and tapped the sand with its beak. A green handle poked out! Sam dug it up and laughed. "Thank you, seagull!" he said. He built a big sandcastle and stayed until supper.
