The Watering Can Nest

Kofi picked up his watering can. It was time to water the flowers by the back steps.

Whoosh! A little brown bird flew out of the can. Kofi peeked inside. He saw a nest made of twigs. In the nest were four tiny eggs.

Kofi ran to get Grandma. "That is a wren's nest," she said. "We must leave it alone." Kofi frowned. "But how will I water the flowers?"

Grandma smiled and handed him her old blue teapot. "Use this for now," she said.

Every day, Kofi watered the flowers with the teapot. One morning, he heard peep, peep, peep from the can. Soon the baby birds grew big and flew away. Then Kofi got his watering can back.
