Read the story

Zip and the Shady Rock

1It was a hot day in the desert. Zip the lizard found a big rock. Next to it was a patch of cool shade.

2Quinn the quail came by. "May I rest in the shade with you?" she asked. "No," said Zip. "This shade is just for me." So Quinn rested under a bush.

3The sun climbed high in the sky. Zip's patch of shade got smaller and smaller. Soon it was gone, and Zip was hot.

4Quinn saw him. "Come rest under my bush," she called. "There is room for two." Zip felt bad. "Thank you," he said. "I am sorry I did not share."
