The Depot Map Table

At a city bus depot, Sora and Mateo put two same-size paper squares in the sunny courtyard. One square was under a broad depot awning. The other was in the open sun. After ten minutes, an adult recorded 2 warmth marks for the awning square and 6 warmth marks for the sunny square.

The children made three small roofs for a model map table. With no roof, the table had 6 warmth marks. A solid white paper roof gave 2 marks. A cloth roof with large holes gave 4 marks. The roofs and table started the same way.
