Green Corner Lawn Care

1Kalani's uncle Felipe runs a business called Green Corner Lawn Care. He mows grass, trims bushes and rakes leaves for people in nearby towns. On Saturdays, Kalani rides along in his truck. Her job is to read the addresses on his clipboard.

2The first stop was 52 Juniper Lane, Ames, Iowa. Mrs. Trinh needed her hedges trimmed. The second stop was 9 Prairie Court, Ames, Iowa. That yard was full of tall grass, so mowing it took a whole hour.

3After lunch, they drove to Ankeny, Iowa, to mow the grass at a small park. Uncle Felipe told Kalani that the park had been his very first big job.

4That evening, Kalani wrote thank-you notes to the new customers. She wrote each customer's address in the middle of an envelope. In the top left corner, she wrote the address of the business: 300 Elm Street, Boone, Iowa.

5When Uncle Felipe checked the envelopes, he found one mistake. Kalani had written Ames Iowa with no comma between the city and the state. She added the comma, and the notes were ready to mail.

Comma rules: In a sentence, put a comma after the street and after the city. If the sentence keeps going after the state, put a comma after the state, too.
