How Bees Make Honey
Honey bees live together in a home called a hive. Many bees share one hive. Each bee has a job to do.
On warm spring and summer days, worker bees fly out to find flowers. A bee lands on a flower and sips a sweet juice called nectar. Then the bee flies back to the hive with the nectar.
Inside the hive, other bees take the nectar. They flap their wings over it. This dries the nectar and makes it thick. The thick, sweet liquid is honey. The bees store the honey in small wax cells.
Bees make honey so they will have food. In winter, few flowers are growing. Then the bees eat the honey they saved.
