Lemonade for a Hot Day

1It was a hot, sunny day. Dani and her little brother Kofi sat on the sidewalk in front of their blue house. They had a small table, a big jug of lemonade, and a sign that Dani painted.

2At first, nobody came by. Kofi put his chin in his hands and frowned. Then Mr. Ruiz, the mail carrier, stopped and bought a cup. Soon more neighbors lined up.

3By afternoon, the jug was empty. Dani counted the coins in a tin. "We did it!" she said. Kofi grinned and gave her a big hug.
