Ostriches

1Ostriches are the biggest birds in the world. An ostrich can grow taller than a grown-up person. It has a long neck and long, strong legs. Ostriches cannot fly.

2An ostrich can run very fast. It uses its wings to help it turn while it runs. Each foot has just two toes. Big eyes help it see far away.

3Wild ostriches live in dry, grassy parts of Africa. They eat mostly plants. A mother ostrich lays her eggs in a nest on the ground. Ostrich eggs are the biggest eggs of any bird.

Picture 2
