Sky Checks at Gull Rock Lighthouse

The lighthouse crew wanted to make a sky-viewing plan for visitors. They watched the sky on two clear days and two clear nights. They checked at the same times.

On both days, the sun was low in the east at 8:00 in the morning. At noon, it was high in the sky. At 4:00 in the afternoon, it was low in the west.

On Night 1, at 7:30, the moon was above the west rock and the stars were above the east cliff. At 9:30, the moon was above the lighthouse and the stars were above the west rock.

On Night 2, the moon and stars were in those same places at the same times. The crew could not check Night 3 because clouds covered the sky.
