Our Park Investigation

Listen to the steps. Use the records to answer.

Four Visits to the Chess Plaza

Daylight lasts from sunrise to sunset, even when clouds hide the sun. Our class studied daylight at a city park's chess plaza in the northern United States.

1. We chose one day near the start of each season.

2. Our teacher recorded sunrise and sunset times for each visit day. We used the same plaza each time.

3. Our teacher used the times to find about how many hours of daylight each day had.

4. We put our results in a graph. Winter had about 8 hours, spring 12 hours, summer 16 hours, and fall 12 hours.
