George Washington Carver

1George Washington Carver lived a long time ago. As a boy, he loved plants. He grew a garden in the woods. He helped sick plants get well, so people called him the plant doctor.

3As a scientist, George saw a problem. Many farmers grew cotton in the same fields every year. This made the soil weak. George told farmers to plant peanuts some years. Peanut plants help make the soil healthy again.
