Email: A Calendar Plan

To: Dalia From: Renzo Subject: Desk calendar fundraiser Hi Dalia, Our student council could sell desk calendars to raise money for new outdoor lunch tables. Each month would feature a photograph taken by a student. We already have permission to use several photos, but we still need a printing estimate. I made a provisional schedule for sales. We can change the dates once the printer tells us how long the job will take.

I suggest a modest first order. Instead of buying several hundred calendars, we could start with forty and see how quickly they sell. A smaller order would leave less money tied up in unsold stock. We should ask whether a second printing would cost more per calendar before deciding, though. The cheapest-looking choice might not be the best choice overall.

Could you reserve the folding display stand for our sales table? Put our names on the equipment schedule so another group does not book it. The stand is stored beside the stage. We can collect it after rehearsal on Thursday. I will bring clips to hold the sample pages upright.

The printer offered a discount, but there is a catch: we must submit every photograph by Friday. That condition could be difficult because two students have not sent their files. Please do not announce our final selling price yet. We need to calculate the margin between what each calendar costs us and what a buyer pays.

After the sale, we should reconcile our records. We will compare the order forms with the payment list and correct any differences. Then we can report the proceeds to the council, along with our printing expenses, so everyone can see what remains for the tables. Does this plan seem viable, or have I missed a problem that would keep it from working? Thanks, Renzo
