About this worksheet

What students practice

  • Students find the volume of a solid made of two rectangular prisms by adding the two volumes.
  • Students find a missing volume or edge length when the total volume is known.
  • Students explain why each prism's volume must be found separately before adding.

How to use

Use after students can find volume with V = l × w × h. Have students sketch each garden bed as two boxes and label each part's volume before adding.
