Read the shop profile
Read about Lumen Lane Costume Shop. Then answer the questions using details from the profile.
Lumen Lane Costume Shop
Mara Patel and her family run Lumen Lane Costume Shop in a busy city neighborhood. The shop specializes in costumes for school plays, community theaters, and dance shows. Mara measures performers, repairs seams, and changes costumes so they fit. Her brother Dev keeps track of the rentals and helps customers choose clothing for a show. Because the family focuses on costumes, they can work carefully and quickly instead of trying to provide every kind of theater service.
Lumen Lane does not make every item it needs. A fabric wholesaler sends rolls of cloth and spools of thread. A button maker in another neighborhood produces the unusual buttons Mara uses on historical costumes. Bright Suds Laundry cleans rented costumes between shows. The Swift Step Courier delivers finished costumes to theaters when the shop is busy. Each partner focuses on a different job or product.
The partners depend on one another, too. Lumen Lane pays the fabric wholesaler and button maker for goods and pays Bright Suds and Swift Step for services. Those businesses depend on orders from customers such as Lumen Lane. When all of the specialists do their parts, a theater can receive clean, well-fitting costumes on time. If one partner has a problem, Mara may need to change her work plan or tell a theater that its costumes will be late.
- A. A costume shop mainly needs customers who choose historical clothing.
- B. A city theater can make costumes without help from other businesses.
- C. Specialists at several businesses work together to supply theater costumes.
