A Speech for Sol Vista

Good evening, neighbors. My name is Leila, and I live in Sol Vista, a desert city. Our city government helps make shared places safe and useful. City workers watered new trees and repaired the shade covers at Mesa Park so families could rest outside on hot days.

At the public library, people can borrow books and use a cool place to read and learn. Library workers also set out books about caring for desert plants. These services help people use a public building that belongs to the community.

After a dust storm, a road crew cleared sand from streets and fixed a cracked crossing. Police officers helped drivers move safely near the work. Firefighters checked a smoky building when an alarm called for help.

Each service has a different job. Parks give people places to play and gather. Libraries provide books and learning spaces. Road crews care for streets. Police protect people and help keep order, while firefighters respond to fires and some other emergencies. We can thank these workers and report problems in shared places.
