Self-Portrait Day in Art Class

Read a story and use words like myself, herself and themselves.

Read the story

Amara wrote about her day in art class. Read her story.

Self-Portrait Day

1Today was Self-Portrait Day in art class. A self-portrait is a picture you make of yourself. Ms. Rivera gave each of us a small mirror and a big sheet of paper.

2First, I looked at myself in the mirror for a long time. Then I drew my curly hair and my round glasses. My friend Hana drew herself with a big yellow bow. Theo painted himself in his red soccer shirt.

3The Kim twins shared one big sheet of paper. They painted themselves side by side, holding hands. Halfway through, the wobbly easel in the corner folded up by itself. Clack! We all jumped, and then we laughed.

4When the paint was dry, Ms. Rivera said we could hang our pictures. We taped them on the hallway wall ourselves. Now everyone who walks by can see us smiling!
