Flashlight Tag

On a warm summer night, Zara and her friends met in her backyard to play flashlight tag. The sky was turning gray, and the first stars were coming out.

Zara's big brother, Omar, was "it." He held a bright light and counted to twenty. Zara hid behind a stack of paint cans by the gate. Her friend Ben lay flat under the slide.

Zara had to wait and keep still. She saw the light sweep across the grass. Then a moth landed on her nose! She tried not to laugh, but a giggle slipped out. "Found you!" Omar shouted with a grin.

Then it was Zara's turn to be "it." She clicked on the flashlight and called, "Ready or not, here I come!" They played until Mom told everyone to come inside. "Can we play tomorrow?" Ben asked.
