Beside the Jumping Lane

Our class visits a long-jump field. We take two matching rocks from the ground beside the sand pit. Both rocks start equally cool.

We set one rock in sunlight and one in shade under the stands. Both stay there for 20 minutes. Our teacher uses a thermometer to check each rock before and after. We stay outside the jumping lane and do not touch hot surfaces.
