Isla's First Guitar Lesson
Uncle Dev handed Isla a small, old guitar. The wood was scuffed, with tiny scratches all over it.
"Hold it gently, not too hard," he said. Isla plucked one string, but the sound was so faint that she could hardly hear it.
Next, Uncle Dev showed her how to strum by brushing his thumb down all the strings at once. Isla tried it. Twang!
Soon Isla's fingers were sore, and they hurt from pressing on the strings. But she kept going, and at last she played a whole song.
