1On Saturday, Zara went to the roller rink with her cousin Dev. Zara was nervous because she had never worn skates. Her legs began to wobble back and forth, and she grabbed the wall.

2Dev showed her how to glide. "Bend your knees and push with one foot," he said. Zara tried again. She stayed up this time, so she smiled. "I am proud of myself," she said, "because I did not give up!"

3When the music got loud, the other children cheered and clapped. Zara and Dev skated until the lights came on.
