Subject: Before We Announce the Sneaker-Cleaning Fundraiser
1To: Imani Brooks From: Dario Vega Subject: Before we announce the sneaker-cleaning fundraiser Hi Imani, Thanks for suggesting a sneaker-cleaning fundraiser to help cover the seventh-grade class photo. Students could bring washable sneakers, and our volunteers would clean them with supplies approved by our adviser. We should explain that we cannot accept every material or promise to remove every stain. A clear description will prevent disappointment when people arrive.
2Our Saturday date is tentative. We have drafted a schedule for the volunteers. The event can happen that day only if the facilities coordinator approves our use of the covered entrance. The supply list is in the shared folder. Please hold the announcement until we hear back.
3I first thought we could advertise every dollar collected as money for the class photo. Then I remembered that we must pay for brushes and cleaning cloths. Our net proceeds will be the money remaining after those expenses. We should show both the amount collected and the costs in our final update, so classmates can follow what happened to their payments.
4Could you solicit donations of unused cleaning cloths from families? We need to ask what people can provide before buying anything ourselves. Please describe the cloths we need rather than asking for a general bag of supplies. We can waive the cleaning fee for students who cannot pay, without asking them to explain their circumstances to the volunteers.
5After the event, we should reconcile the payment log with the cash count. If the records disagree, we will check each entry and receipt until we can explain the difference. That does not mean changing a number just to make the totals look right. Two students should review the records together before we send an update to the class.
6We also need a contingency plan in case the covered entrance becomes unavailable. An indoor room might work, but we would need permission and a way to protect the floor. Could you check those details while I confirm the cleaning instructions with our adviser? Once we have answers, we can send a short announcement that tells students exactly what to expect. Thanks, Dario
- A. Revise the guess: the date remains dependent on a required approval.
- B. Keep the guess: placing supplies in a shared folder confirms the event.
- C. Keep the guess: preparing the volunteer schedule establishes the date.
- D. Revise the guess: the date refers to the volunteers’ arrival time.
