The Ocarina Order: Four Sources, One Plan

Use an email, a catalog, a calendar and a web page to solve a club problem.

Read the sources

The school Music Club is starting an ocarina group. An ocarina is a small wind instrument with a mouthpiece and finger holes. The club must choose which ocarinas to buy and find out when and where the first practice will be. Use the four sources below.

To: Music Club
Subject: Our new ocarina group

Hello, Music Club! The school's arts grant gave us $120 to buy ocarinas for our new players. Ten students have signed up, so each ocarina must cost $12 or less. Please choose a model that will not crack if someone drops it, because many players will carry their ocarinas on the bus. I will place the order on Wednesday, March 4. Our first practice will be on the first Tuesday after the ocarinas arrive. If you have questions about the order, come see me in the music room before school.

All prices are for one ocarina.

Pebble (6 holes, plastic), $9. Strong body that will not crack if dropped. A good first ocarina.

Meadow (6 holes, clay), $11. Soft, sweet sound. Handle with care, because clay can crack if dropped.

Echo (12 holes, plastic), $14. Strong body that will not crack if dropped. Plays more notes.

Summit (12 holes, clay), $26. Plays more notes. Best for skilled players.

Shipping: Every order arrives one week after the day it is placed.
