About this worksheet

What students practice

  • Students identify shapes that have parallel sides or perpendicular sides.
  • Students classify shapes by whether they have acute, right, or obtuse angles.
  • Students recognize right triangles and sort shapes using two rules at once.

How to use

Let students trace sides with a ruler to check for parallel sides and use the corner of an index card to test for right angles. Part 3 works well as a partner activity.

1.
Bolt only picks up shapes that have at least one pair of parallel sides. Circle every shape Bolt picks up.

2.
Bolt checks two of its own metal parts.Part PPart Q
