Ada's family has a new rice cooker. Ada is writing a note for her little brother, Chidi, and she wants to quote the booklet's exact words. Read the booklet.

How to Use Your Rice Cooker

1Welcome to your new rice cooker! This booklet will help you cook fluffy rice at home. Please read every step before you begin. Ask an adult to help you the first few times you use the cooker. Keep this booklet in a kitchen drawer for later.

2Step 1: Measure the rice. Use the small plastic cup that came in the box. Each cup of dry rice makes enough for about two people. Pour the rice into the inner pot, and spread it out with your hand.

3Step 2: Rinse the rice. Fill the pot with cool water and swirl the rice gently. The water will turn cloudy. Pour the cloudy water out carefully, and do this two or three times. Rinsing helps keep the rice from getting too sticky.

4Step 3: Add water and start. Look inside the pot for the lines with numbers. If you used three cups of rice, add fresh water up to the line marked 3. Place the pot in the cooker, close the lid, and press the Cook button. A small light will turn on.

5Step 4: Wait and fluff. The cooker will click and switch to Warm when the rice is done. Do not open the lid right away. Let the rice rest for ten minutes so the steam can finish its work. Then fluff the rice with the plastic paddle.

6Safety tips: Steam is very hot, so keep your face and hands away from the vent on top. Never put the cooker base in water. Unplug the cooker when you are finished, and let it cool before you clean it.
