Chili Night

It is chili night at Mateo's house. A big pot bubbles on the stove. The chili is boiling, so Dad turns the heat down low.

Mateo is starving after his long soccer game. He gobbles three crackers right away. His little sister Lucia is only a little hungry. She nibbles the edge of one cracker.

At last, Dad fills the bowls. The chili is too hot to eat, so Mateo blows on it. When it is warm, he takes a big bite. It is spicy! Mateo gulps his whole glass of milk.

Lucia sips her milk slowly. After dinner, Mateo pats his tummy. "I'm stuffed!" he says. Lucia smiles. "I'm full," she says.
