About this worksheet

What students practice

  • Students write a fraction a/b as a × 1/b, such as 5/8 = 5 × 1/8.
  • Students use fraction bars and number lines to count unit fractions, including fractions greater than 1.
  • Students solve word problems by finding how many unit fractions make a fraction.

How to use

Use after students know what a unit fraction is. Have them count tiles out loud (one eighth, two eighths, and so on) for the first problems, then work the rest on their own.
