Jada's Draft Letter
1Dear Families of Room 12,
My name is Jada Brooks, and I am a student in Ms. Ferreira's fourth-grade class. Field Day is one of the most exciting days of the school year, and this year our class is helping to plan it. I am writing to ask you to volunteer at Field Day.
2Field Day will take place on the last Friday in May, on the grassy field behind the school. Volunteers should arrive at 8:30 in the morning and sign in at the front office. The events begin at 9:00 and end at noon, so you will be finished in time for lunch. If it rains, Field Day will move to the following Monday.
3Volunteers will help in three ways. First, some volunteers will run the water station and keep the paper cups filled. Next, others will hold stopwatches at the relay race and write down each team's time on a clipboard. Last year, my older brother came in second in the sack race. Finally, a few volunteers will hand out ribbons at the end of the morning so that every student gets one.
4Please wear comfortable shoes and a hat, because there is not much shade on the field. Bring a water bottle for yourself, too. You do not need to bring any supplies for the events. The school will provide the cones, sacks, stopwatches and ribbons.
5If you would like to volunteer, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page and send it back to school with your child by the end of next week. Thank you for helping us make Field Day a great day for every student!
Sincerely,
Jada Brooks
